Green Power Producers Made EUR100M From Green Certificates In Jan-April

Green power producers collected from the support scheme put in place by the Romanian government almost EUR100 million in the first four months of the year, as much as they did last year. Eighty percent of this amount went to wind farm owners.

The amount of renewable energy in the first four months is comparable to last year’s level, according to the latest data made available by national grid company Transelectrica on its website.

Wind and solar power producers and those that own small hydropower plants got more than 1.8 million green certificates in the first four months, compared to 1.7 million issued in the entire 2011.

The certificates are worth EUR27 to EUR55 each and are now trading at the maximum value. Green power producers can also sell the power generated at the market price.

The largest green power producers are Czech-held CEZ, Italian-held Enel and Energias de Portugal.
